His paintings decorated the homes of wealthy Parisians, and were sought after by Americans and Europeans. But who would have thought they could be so easy to find -- just $7 at a flea market!

Sep 16, 2012
When China's Vice President Xi Jinping went missing, there was fierce speculation about this whereabouts. Was he injured? Did he suffer a heart attack? Or did pressures from within the party force him to cancel meetings with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other world leaders? Jinping made a public appearance on Saturday after a two week break.

10 Tips To Improve Your Memory
1. Convert Info Into A Picture
Because most information--a name or series of numbers--is abstract, converting it into a related image helps your brain latch onto it. If you park your car in row B13 of a parking garage, for example, you may imagine a birthday cake with 13 candles. When you return later, your mind will draw up the information faster.

Which foods are acidic?
The pH scale is a ranking of acidity. The "p" stands for potenz, meaning potential to be, and the "H" is for hydrogen. On this scale, a 7.0 measures neutral — neither acidic nor alkaline. Water is a 7.0. Anything measuring a pH of 6.9 or below is considered an acid; anything 7.1 and above is considered an alkali or base.

What's up with iodized salt - Is it better for you than regular salt?
Dear Alice,
What is it
with iodized salt? We just bought a pound of salt and it is not iodized. Are we
at some risk for dreaded ailments? Since a pound of salt lasts FOREVER at our
house, should we re-consider and get the iodized version?

A Tip for Teens to Prevent Online TMI
We all know how easy it is to commit a comment of passion online. That is, it’s all too easy to post something on the Internet that you might late regret — something that might be too much information (TMI) for not only strangers, acquaintances and co-workers, but even friends and family.
I want acne to be gone!
Dear Alice,
I would like to know something about acne. I am a high school student, and have gotten acne. I got it for more than two years, and would like to find a way to cure it. I currently use Neutrogena's Acne face wash, Neutrogena's overnight acne treatment, and some face washers.
Terrified of speaking in class
Dear Alice,
I have been
at Columbia for two years now and still suffer from terrible anxiety when it
comes to doing a presentation or speaking in class. When it comes to presenting
in front of my classmates I become so nervous that I can barely speak. I
perspire; there is minimal shaking; feel so embarrassed that it even makes me want to cry.
Excuses, excuses
Dear Alice,
I am a
parent who needs help guiding a teen. My son is an excuse maker! He never
admits that he could be the cause of anything negative in his life. If he
strikes out in baseball, it was the sun's fault for shining in his eyes; if he
gets in trouble at school, it is ALWAYS the teacher's fault. No matter the
problem, big or small, it is an excuse!
